Aging Essentials Speaker Series: New Approaches To And Attitudes Towards Dementia Care: What We Can Learn From Our Forgetful Loved Ones
The East Bay Chapter of the Haas Alumni Network in collaboration with the UC Berkeley Resource Center on Aging is excited to host a presentation by Nader Shabahangi, Ph.D., President and CEO of AgeSong Senior Communities, author of several noted books on dementia, and Founder of the Pacific Institute, on the topic of “New Approaches To And Attitudes Towards Dementia Care: What We Can Learn From Our Forgetful Loved Ones.”
Forgetfulness (Dementia) comes in many forms and degrees of severity. It brings unique challenges and rewards not only for those with forgetfulness, but also for their families, caregivers, and loved ones. Nader Shabahangi Ph.D. reviews the different forms of dementia and discusses the latest developments in care and collaboration with forgetful seniors. About Nader Shabahangi
Nader received his Doctorate from Stanford University, is a licensed psychotherapist, and is cofounder and CEO of AgeSong. He is passionate about advocating for marginalized groups and creating innovative programs to care more comprehensively for elders. As CEO of AgeSong, Nader envisions and drives its decisions and plans for elder care services. In 1992, Nader founded the Pacific Institute, a nonprofit organization that defines its mission as one of helping elders live meaningful lives. Nader is a frequent lecturer and presenter at events and conferences focusing on aging, counseling, and dementia. He has written numerous articles and books on Aging and Forgetfulness including Faces of Aging, Deeper Into the Soul, Conversations With Ed and Elders Today.
